FrieslandCampina (NL)

SPIT and FrieslandCampina Lochem strengthen sustainable production with 360° approach for rotating assets.

FrieslandCampina Lochem, a leading production site within the food industry, is working with SPIT on a comprehensive maintenance approach for critical rotating assets. Although not every FrieslandCampina location uses this methodology, Lochem has since proven that real-time monitoring and smart maintenance lead to lower energy consumption and more efficient deployment of mechanics - resulting in more reliable processes.

Customer value

Less energy and more efficiency

Thanks to SPIT 's real-time monitoring and data analysis, subtle changes in electronic speed controllers, motors, pumps, compressors, heaters, atomizers and butter machines are recognized in a timely manner. This keeps machines running optimally, consuming less energy. In addition, mechanics only take action when the data show that maintenance is really necessary. This saves time and costs, and reduces the environmental impact.

Preventing unforeseen downtime

Immediate actions when limit values are exceeded: as soon as measurement data indicate that a particular parameter is outside the norm, SPIT takesimmediate action, further ensuring equipment reliability.

Automatic lubrication system: this system allows technicians to perform fewer lubrication rounds manually and ensures timely lubrication. Previous pitfalls, such as mixing different greases or forgetting to lubricate, are now a thing of the past.

Better technical condition of drives: continuous monitoring has led to sustainable maintenance, resulting in better functioning plants in the long run.

    Safety and compliance

With stable operation of installations (including fans, heaters and atomizers), FrieslandCampina Lochem also limits safety risks. The constant and accurate monitoring of machinery allows potentially dangerous situations to be recognized early, contributing to compliance with strict industrial and environmental requirements.

    Lower Total Cost of Ownership

SPIT ensures that parts are replaced only when really necessary. This extends the life of the machines and reduces the total cost of ownership. Spare parts can also be quickly found and deployed via the digital ecosystem, further reducing downtime and additional costs.

One digital platform for overview and collaboration

All measurement data, maintenance schedules and logs come together in one user-friendly platform. This gives technicians and management in Lochem a clear overview of the current state of all assets. The deployment of technicians is thus more focused and efficient, leading to fewer transport movements and a lower environmental impact.

"By linking the data from our machines to the actual maintenance and repair processes, we can not only reduce interventions but also plan them better. We have had several situations where a malfunction was recognized in time, preventing unplanned downtime. Thanks to the automatic lubrication system and immediate action on deviations, I can be sure that our plants are well maintained - and that gives me the peace of mind to sleep soundly at night."

    OUR PROJECTS

    Retrofit Siemens drives

Replacement of an old Siemens drive of 1,100 kW at 690V. For a quick conversion while retaining existing components, we apply the Schneider Electric Altivar Process Modular 900 series drive.

    Lifetime extension

During lifetime analysis measurements, we found an upcoming problem in a particular generator set. A planned intervention extended the service life to 2035.
